Is connecting led lights to a speaker as simple as joining the positive and negative wires?
As in can I simply add the led strip wires, (positive and negative) to the speaker wire where it enters my subwoofer?

Yes, you can do that, but it IS a diode, so the sound will be rectified and sound like staticky crap. If you place the LED parallel into the speaker, the speaker will sound fine and the light will not be as bright, but it will flash according to the voltage it gets. You will see when you try it.

It worked for me and I used led strip light.As long as you have the power they require, which isn't much.
