Will space heaters help an old furnace during artic blast?

I m thinking of using a couple electric-powered oil-filled radiator style heaters to help an older furnace, which is running a lot trying to keep up with sub-zero temps. Will this help?

No, it's not worth the cost of the electricity. The fact is that it's better for the furnace to run continuously, instead of switching on and off. Let the furnace and thermostat do their jobs

They may reduce the running time, depends on the how much heat they give out and how much heat is lost and such.

If the system is overloaded then yes, additional electric heating will help so the central heating can be run within capacity. However, continuous running in itself is fine.

Anything that will give off HEAT will help.
