Will it be okay to get a hamster during college?

i live by myself off campus so i get so lonely.. i don't live in a dorm. my only concern is where to take it during breaks if i decide to go back home.. can you take hamsters on the plane?

Yes, you can take hamsters on a plane, but you need vet paperwork just like with any other animal. A hamster or another small rodent in a cage is a good small pet. Keep in mind that they are active when you are not, they are active at night. You might have fun staying up late studying with your new friend, but on the nights when you need to go to bed early they will still be up and active and making noise.
