How many dots on a golf ball?

They're not dots; they're dimples. The number varies by manufacturer. Numbers range from the low 300's to the high 300's.

An average regulation golf ball has 336 dimples, but this can vary anywhere from 300 to 500.

The dimples are usually the same size as one another, but some golf balls have several different sizes of dimple on the same ball. Any number between 300 and 500 dimples is reasonable, and 336 is a common number

the dimples of dots are made differently for each golf ball model. usually higher cost golf balls have more dimples than the lower cost golf balls. Why? because a higher cost golf ball has more spin (the rotation of a golf ball). good players need more spin so the ball lands with a backspin on the green. But golf balls with more backspin will fly a bit shorter than balls with less spin. One good example of this type of golf ball is the famous Titleist ProV1 (it has so many dimples). Golf balls with fewer dimples will fly with less backspin. And it will give golfers with average or slower swing speed more distance. One example golf balls with less backspin is Pinnacle Long. It is only $15 for a dozen.
