How does 'Flight Cancellation Protection' work for 'Non-Refundable Flight'?

I purchased a flight ticket with cancellation protection (recommended at the website) I actually got injured and had to cancel my flight. The agent told me that they will cancel the flight, but as it's non-refundable. The insurance company (that belongs to the same agency) will contact you. What does it mean?

Sounds like English to me.

It means that the airline won't compensate you, but your insurance company should.
