Canada is a big country, but yes larger cities do have gay communities.

There are larger gay communities in Canadian cities and yes, while gay people do face some discrimination, it is mostly accepted by people and fully accepted by Canadian law. Gay marriage has been legal in Canada for some years now.

For most people, it's no big deal. Not worth fussing about. It is still an issue in many religious communities (as in, what do we do?), but, as it is perfectly legal, many homosexuals are open about it. Even politicians, who get elected even being gay.
