Do people really go to Panama? Why would they even do that though?

It's very interesting. Friends have taken a cruise that goes through the canal, where you get to watch how the locks fill up. Panama, like the rest of Central America, is a lovely country, with many miles of coastline. Those ought to be very popular tourist destinations for Americans.

I'll answer with FDR's favorite palindromic slogan: "A man, a plan, a canal -- Panama!"

going through the Panama Canal is an experience like no other. I wouldn't do it again, however. Not as safe to travel these days.
