How good are on average Catalans who grew up after Franco's reign at Spanish?

I know everyone who grew up before Franco died are fluent at it because that was the only language they could speak at school. But now i've been hearing the exact opposite, that many schools in Catalunia forbid Spanish. Anyone know more about this?

Even if some schools in Catalonia no longer teach Spanish, this is a fairly recent development, long after Franco's demise. The vast majority of Catalonians still speak good Castilian Spanish and almost all can understand it.

The capital city of Catalonia is Barcelona. Sure as hell they speak Spanish.
