On a DNA ancestry test, what does French and german or Europe west mean? Does it signify Germanic or celtic?

An ancestry dna test is supposed to be able to discern between Germanic and celtic genes.

It means chromosomes very similar to some of your chromosomes are most commonly found in France and Germany "is supposed to be able to discern between Germanic and celtic genes." No it doesn't. There are no genetic profiles, let alone huge genetic databases, from one or two millennia ago "

Celtic and Germanic genes are very similar; both have lots of prehistoric 'Beaker' ancestry. Most Germanic areas had Celtic settlement at some point--not just England and France, but also Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Denmark, and there's no reason to imagine those people were all 'wiped out.'
