Or - and I know this is a crazy idea - you could do your own goddamn homework.

As long as we're throwing accusations around, let's discuss the role of the British in all of this. Contrary to the popular claims, there is not a single reference to exterminating Jews in Mein Kampf. Hitler actually tried several times to relocate the Jews out of Germany. According to the internationally recognized right of self-determination, he had every right to create his own laws to do so. Unfortunately " self-determination" had been denied to Germany by the Treaty of Versailles. The Allied countries had no more legal right to dictate Germany's policies as Hitler had of dictating policies in any other country. But, in violation of international law, the Allies did just that. Hitler, in cooperation with the Zionist Federation of Germany, helped relocate approximately 60,000 to Palestine before Britain stopped it by closing the doors to Palestine to Jewish immigration for the duration of the war. His next attempt was the Madagascar Plan - which again was blocked by British blockades. The "Final Solution" was an extension of the Haavara Agreement (with the German Zionists) to relocate the Jews to other countries. The original name given to the Haavara Agreement was "The Solution to the Jewish Question". The Wannsee Protocol of 1942 was called "The Final Solution to the Jewish Question". If you'll catch the similarities of the two terms, they become self-explanatory. Yet, the term has been shortened to "The Final Solution" and used to promote the Holocaust because it sounds ominous and foreboding and it creates a dark scenario of murder and genocide. There is nothing in the Wannsee Protocol to even suggest exterminations. But it's still one of the selling points to keep the Holocaust saga alive and well. Placing Jews and others deemed enemies of the state in prison camps was a last-resort act on Germany's part. They tried many times to relocate the Jews but even other countries were antisemitic and refused to take the Jews in. Many took some (as did the United States), but nowhere near what they could have. Thus, Germany had no choice but to place them in concentration camps, some of which turned out to be labor camps, since Germany couldn't afford to run a Holiday Inn - and so they got some form of compensation in the form of labor (for which the prisoners were paid). The fact that the camps were overpopulated and mostly located in Poland which saw a typhus outbreak during the first war is the reason there were so many deaths - not gas chambers. And it never would have gotten that bad had Britain not blocked Hitler's every move to relocate the Jews. Culpability for what happened goes to Britain - they were the ones responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Jews, not Hitler.

Presumably this is a question for you history homework. You will have talked about this in class, and given texts to read. Look back over your notes and those texts and you will find the answer to the question.

Never take the blame for what goes wrong, even if you were responsible. Blame the Jews, the gypsies, the Democrats . . . .

Hitler was an antisemitic racist whose hatreds were shared by many in Europe. I will not do your assignment for you but will quote a few reference sources. "Anus Mundi" by Weislaw Keillor. Keillor was an eyewitness, a nonjewish inmate at Bergen Belsen who lived to testify about what was done. "Adolf Hitler" by John Toland. Toland wrote the definitive biography with flawless research into Hitler's youth and motivations. He is a reliable and readable historian. "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich" by William Shirer, an American journalist who was an eyewitness to much of Hitler's rise to power and covered the war in detail. "Mein Kampf" by Adolf Hitler. Get the truth from the horse's mouth as it were. Hitler wrote this book before he came to power and detailed what his plans and motivations were. Somehow only Winston Churchill believed he meant it. Read them and weep. A final comment: Hitler also exterminated gypsies, homosexuals and Jehovah's witnesses, and planned to do the same for all slavs once he had won the war. He was the world's most successful mass murderer, but actually planned the murder of a hundred million to make room for his master race.
