Bactrim paste on infected nose piercing?

So my nose piercing is infected :( had it done about a month ago. Iv'e kinda slacked off on cleaning it over the weekend because I was travelling a lot and woke up with it red, swollen and painful, no discharge but it's obviously irritated. I have that H2ocean spray and tea tree oil that iv'e been using and i'm going to try the aspirin paste method tonight..... but I was wondering if you could do the same thing with a bactrim tablet?

Just stop. You are causing the irritation by not taking care of your piercing properly. Swelling and redness are not the only things that need to be happening to signal infection. You need to have pain, heat coming from the area, and a dark colored disgusting smelling puss. You don't have these things, so i would not say your piercing is infected. Your piercing is irritated though because you are not taking care of it properly. Tea tree oil will just cause dryness. It does not help piercings. It dries out the skin and causes irritation which leads to infection. The aspirin paste will just continue to irritate the skin. You might even get a chemical burn. Go to the drugstore and get sterile gauze pads. Saturate a gauze pad with the h2ocean spray and hold it on the piercing for 5 - 10 mins. After soaking, use the same gauze pad to gently remove any softened crust or discharge. Do this morning and evening. This is all you need to do. Nothing else should ever touch your piercing, including face wash, and your hands. Be better about taking care of your piercing and it will heal.

It's not infected, just irritated. Ice, ibuprofen, and treat it like you just got it pierced. Also, if you can, use a sea salt soak instead of the tea tree oil. The oil may make it worse, as you'll be blocking the holes so it cannot air out and heal. It's one on those things, the more you mess with it and the more crap you add to it, the more likely it's going to stay irritated, so take it easy and use only what you have to. All you need is some ice and ibuprofen to take the swelling away, and to wash it with sea salt and water. New nose piercings can get irritated very easily, but luckily, they calm down quick enough after a few days. I've had my nose done 12 times (taken out due to jobs, not infection), currently have a septum and 2 nostril piercings.

Go to hospital. Infection is dangerous. May all hell on earth turned to heaven on earth right now.

YOU NEED TO SEE A DOCTOR. TODAY. The nose has a direct mucosal pathway to the brain. If the infection spreads, it could kill you. I'm not kidding. You need prescription antibiotics. You may have to remove the ring until the infection clears up, so prepare yourself for that.
