Was it prescribed for this use for you by a doctor? Once again, sounds like you're just combing someone's med cabinet, looking for leftovers.

Yes they can, but don't take them unless they're prescribed to you. You don't know the proper dosage to be taking. You may end up with your infection becoming worse and antibiotic-resistant. Topical antibiotics would be a better route, but still not good if avoidable. Where is this infection, and have you tried washing it regularly with benzoyl peroxide? Benzoyl peroxide worked for me for a skin infection when antibiotics didn't and natural remedies didn't.

Only if the infection is deep enough in the skin so there is a good supply of blood to the area.
