No. That isn’t true at all. The fact that you ask that made me die a little inside.
Not true at all. However, it is true that with such a glut of PhDs in so many fields, only a third actually find jobs upon graduation which require a PhD. Many have to create their own niche - and do so.

No, that is NOT true at all. Many Ph.D's who are employed are NOT paid by the hour. They have salaries and are paid every two weeks or every month.
