No, but an obstruction could.

Not if using standard equipment used where I live. If you're using some odd type of equipment with an oversized or fragile rubber gasket then anything is possible.

i suppose if there's a washer builtin to the line, that is possible -- you could squeeze the washer so much that it intrudes into the water line
