Are American Staffordshire Terriers considered a banned breed in the UK like the American Pit Bull Terrier?

The wording in the ban says exactly "American Bull Terrier type Dogs" if my memory serves me correctly. So yeah i guess they are banned in that case within the U.k. Cos that type of wording allows the Ole Bill the way to seize any Dog that looks remotely like a pit bull basically. AmStaff inclusive

Pretry sure they are. Even many people with "English" staffies face issues with BSL unless they have solid proof of their dogs breed.

Yes they are a banned breed. They don't distinguish between the American Staff and the Pit Bull here. The UK Staffie is a totally different dog although being bred bigger and bigger and mixed with Pit Bulls.

The American Pit Bull Terrier isn't a breed. There isn't a single legitimate registry that recognizes it as a breed nor will it EVER be recognized. It's a MIX of bully breeds. "Whether your dog is a banned type depends on what it looks like, rather than its breed or name. "If your dog matches many of the characteristics of a Pit Bull Terrier, it may be a banned type." I also highly doubt you have an AKC registered American Staffordshire so you just think you could CLAIM your Pit Bull is one.
