He might be the competitive type. When I get jealous, it'll eat me up inside terribly but after I get over my hissy fit I'll feel the need to outdo whoever I'm jealous of. He might feel very motivated to get with you and that he needs to outdo whoever you have your eyes on. He might be in love with you.
