How do you find your way back to civilization if you find yourself in the middle of nowhere.?

I m trying to think of what a person should do if they just woke up in the middle of nowhere. With no technology, no roads, or anything. What clues would they look for to find themselves back to civilization? Anything like temperatures, sun rising and setting, humidity, find a river and follow it etc.

It took awhile. After I had travelled billions if not Trillions of light years away, finding my old home would be impossible. It would be like finding a particular grain of sand on a beach on the other side of the planet. Then I realized it to be some kind of wormhole and that all I had to do was hop back in it and wham, just like that I travelled Trillions of light years back to where my body is still running its material course. So now I come back to see how things are. Then just like that I can go again when I see all is well.

Sun rises in the east and sets in the west.

According to the Forest Service. follow a drainage or stream downhill. This is often a difficult path, but could lead to a trail or road.

You and Rebecca are right. Walking downhill will eventually get you to a river and to civilization. If you have an idea of where you are, the sun can orient you; all you need is a couple of sticks. I used a similar technique to get out of a swamp when I knew which side of the road I was on but little else. We just had to walk up the road for a minute or two to get to the car.

Finding a river and following it downstream would be good.
