You may be refused entry to, or removed from Canada for any of these reasons: security reasons, including espionage subversion (attempts to overthrow a government, etc.) violence or terrorism, or membership in an organization involved in any of these human or international rights violations, including war crimes crimes against humanity being a senior official in a government engaged in gross human rights violations or subject to international sanctions committing a crime, including driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol organized crime, including membership in an organization that takes part in organized criminal activity, people smuggling or money laundering medical reasons – which include medical conditions that: endanger public health endanger public safety, or causes excessive demand on health or social services (some applicants are exempt) financial reasons – if you’re unable or unwilling to support yourself and your family members misrepresentation, which includes providing false information or withholding information directly related to decisions made under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) failure to comply with any provision of IRPA or having an inadmissible family member.

I've known people to be denied entry because they carried over $10,000 with no relevant documents. And people who traveled with less than $20 for a declared visit longer than 24 hours. More recently the Canadians at border crossings are authorized to use lethal force to halt traffic that refuses to stop as directed.

People with criminal records and those with undesirable backgrounds.

Anything that is equivalent to a felony in Canada (they don't use the terms felony and misdemeanor). A DUI in the US is a misdemeanor but will keep you out of Canada. Likewise a minor marijuana possession in Canada (equivalent of a misdemeanor) keeps you out of the US. Just admitting that you have used marijuana can be grounds to be denied entry into the US.

Anonymous: Apparently a lot of celebrities from the U.S.

Apparently a lot of celebrities from the U.S.: They have been saying for years now that if so-and-so (insert the name of the Republican candidate) gets elected they are moving to Canada. None have done it on a permanent basis, to my knowledge, so maybe Canada has the good sense of prohibiting these toadstools from being admitted.
