How are two payment returns done at target?

I have a question about returns, specifically at target. I purchased a item using both a gift card and debit card. When I return the item (I have the receipt), will it all be put back on my debit card or will they issue me a new gift card since I threw the other one away?

Walk in with what you are returning and the receipt. They will take card of you.

They'll give you a new gift card for the gift card portion, and they should give you cash back for the debit card amount, as that is like paying with cash.
