How to replace the oil pressure sensor properly?

On my 06 Grand Prix my car wouldn't start and my code reader had the codes p0520 and u1153. I replaced the oil pressure sensor after reading the codes and the car still wouldn't start so do I need to change the oil as well or is there something else I need to do like resetting the codes.

Check the fuel rail for pressure, it's possible the oil pressure sensor fault can disable the fuel pump. http://ricksfreeautorepairadvice.com/p0520-engine-oil-pressure-sensorswitch-circuit-malfunction/ The U code is for the HVAC controls so that shouldn't be associated with the engine operations.

If you were trying to start it in the cold weather we had recently there's a good chance you flooded the motor. Pull the front 3 spark plugs out and see if they are wet with gasoline. If they are blow compressed air into the front three cylinders through the spark plug holes and blow out the extra gasoline. When you try to start the motor after doing that it will be hard to start. If it doesn't start after cranking it for 10 seconds hold the gas pedal to the floor. That shuts off the fuel injectors so you don't flood it again and may help with starting it.

Once the problem has been corrected, the codes should reset automatically. If they don't reset, disconnect the negative (black) battery cable for 10 seconds to reset the codes. Changing the oil or resetting the codes would not cause the car to start. Find out why the car won't start: 1. Lack of gas? 2. Lack of spark? 3. Engine seized (possibly from lack of oil?). Maybe the oil pump malfunctioned and the engine seized for lack of oil. If the engine has seized, it will require removal of the engine and serious repair or replacement.
