The Uber app is safe to use. How safe it is use the service depends on whom the driver is and what condition his/her vehicle is in. Every now-and-then there is a report in the news regarding a vehicle collision caused by an Uber driver or an assault by an Uber driver. But to be fair to Uber, those same things happen with taxi drivers or drivers for Lyft and other ride sharing app companies...
