What is a 1/3 cup of grated cheddar cheese in terms of table/tea spoons?

American recipes use cups which I don’t like using since my cups vary in my kitchen. I wanted to find out on the internet however liquids and solid foods are different on table spoons. Who knows roughly how many table/tea spoons worth are in grated cheddar cheese in a 1/3 of a cup. Thanks x

1 (US) cup = 16 (US) tablespoons = 48 (US) teaspoons so 1/3 cup = 16 teaspoons = 5 and 1/3 tablespoons

A "cup" is an actual measurement. A "cup" is 8oz (250ml). A teacup is 8oz. A 1/3 cup measurement is 1/3 of a teacup. Three teaspoons make a tablespoon. Four tablespoons make 1/4 cup. That means there are 16 tablespoons per cup. 1/3 of that is approximately 5.3 tablespoons to make a 1/3 cup.

A "cup" as a cooking measurement is not the same as a cup used for drinking tea or coffee. Of course those cups vary. That's the purpose of what's called a "measuring cup" with painted or etched indicators of 1/4, 1/3, 1/2 and 1, for liquids, or a set of individual measuring cups for dry materials like cheddar cheese. You can get these in plastic or glass at very little cost, easy to locate at a thrift shop.

That's useless anyway. Those are liquid volumes and cheese is not liquid. 2 oz of grated cheddar cheese = 1/2 cup so about 1.3-1.5 ounces.

There are 16 Tablespoons to one cup. There are 3 teaspoons per Tablespoon, so there are 3x16 teaspoons in a cup (48 teaspoons). Another way to look at it is that there are 15ml per Tablespoon and therefore 78.86 ml in 1/3 of a cup.
