The Queen has the authority to dissolve parliament at any time. These days it’s always at the request of the Prime Minister, even though there is legislation in effect establishing fixed terms. Every time the fixed term comes to an end the election process requires that the monarch issue a writ dissolving parliament and calling an election. The law in The UK also permits the government of the day to request that parliament be dissolved for an early election by a two thirds majority vote of the cabinet ministers. The last time this clause of the relevant law was used occurred on 19 April 2017. The Royal Proclamation, under section 2(7) of the Fixed-term Parliaments Act 2011 was issued by HM The Queen on the advice of the Prime Minister on 25 April, with the election held on 8 June.

The monarchy would be abolished and the royals stripped of their titles if they ever interfered in politics in the present day. The people via Parliament are supreme, not the archaic and highly irrelevant monarchy.
